Drishti Foundation Trust: Reviving Nature, Empowering Lives for a Sustainable Tomorrow

Drishti Foundation Trust, sustainability is more than a goal; it is a philosophy. Our work is deeply aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and every initiative we undertake is designed for long-term transformation. Whether it’s reviving rivers or educating underprivileged children, we ensure that our projects are measurable, community-centric, and scalable. With the support of partners, volunteers, and dedicated team members, we have transformed landscapes, improved lives, and set benchmarks for sustainable development in India.

A central part of our mission is tree plantation, but at Drishti Foundation Trust, it is not treated as a one-day event. We approach it as a moral and ecological responsibility. We believe in planting the right species at the right place and time, ensuring each sapling has the best chance of survival and growth. With a focus on native species, soil compatibility, and community engagement, our plantation drives are followed by regular monitoring and maintenance. This holistic approach has enabled us to plant and nurture over 2 million trees, achieving a remarkable survival rate of 85%, well above the national average.

Urban areas are often the hardest hit by pollution, climate change, and unplanned development. To combat this, Drishti Foundation Trust has developed a strong Urban Development Program focused on tree-lined green corridors, water body rejuvenation, cleanliness drives, and rainwater harvesting. Our goal is to make cities not only livable but also climate-resilient. These initiatives have contributed to improved air quality, reduced urban heat islands, and enhanced the quality of life for local communities. We integrate local stakeholders—residents, students, civic authorities—to ensure shared ownership and long-term impact.

Water, being one of the most crucial natural resources, is central to our work. India faces a growing water crisis due to rapid urbanization, industrial pollution, and unsustainable usage. In response, Drishti Foundation Trust has undertaken extensive river rejuvenation, pond cleaning, and ocean cleaning projects. Our methodology includes desilting, solid waste removal, biodiversity restoration, and community involvement. So far, we have rejuvenated over 200+ water bodies across India, directly impacting the lives of over 5 million people by improving groundwater levels, supporting agriculture, and restoring aquatic ecosystems.

Our Ocean Cleaning Campaigns along India’s coastline have tackled the problem of marine plastic waste, involving schools, colleges, and fishing communities in regular beach clean-up drives. Additionally, our rainwater harvesting and recharge pit projects in urban and rural areas are helping to conserve water and prevent future shortages. These water conservation efforts align directly with SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and SDG 13 (Climate Action) of Sustainable Development Goals.

Drishti Foundation Trust also leads efforts in biodiversity conservation and wildlife protection. Through reforestation using the Miyawaki Method, habitat restoration, and awareness programs, we are working to preserve India’s rich and diverse flora and fauna. Our micro-forests in cities serve as carbon sinks and biodiversity hubs, while our wildlife awareness campaigns help reduce human-wildlife conflicts and promote coexistence. Collaborations with local forest departments and environmental researchers have helped protect several endangered species and restore ecological balance in vulnerable regions.

We firmly believe that health and education form the foundation of any thriving community. That is why our social development programs include free medical camps, sanitation and hygiene awareness, menstrual health education for women, and mental wellness workshops. Our education initiatives offer free coaching classes in urban slums, distribute learning materials, support digital literacy for rural youth, and provide scholarships to underprivileged students. Over the years, we have educated more than 100,000 children and youth and provided healthcare services to over 500,000 people, enabling them to lead dignified and productive lives.

India is increasingly prone to natural disasters—floods, droughts, and pandemics—that disproportionately affect vulnerable communities. Drishti Foundation Trust has a proactive disaster response system that includes the provision of emergency supplies, temporary shelters, medical aid, and community-level climate resilience training. During the COVID-19 pandemic, our team distributed oxygen cylinders, PPE kits, food rations, and hygiene products across several states, supporting thousands of families in their time of need. Our ongoing workshops on climate resilience and disaster preparedness help communities anticipate, adapt to, and recover from crises effectively.

Our credibility and reach have grown significantly over the years, and our global recognitions affirm our local impact. With consultative status from ECOSOC and accreditation from UNEP, we actively participate in international forums, share best practices, and amplify the voices of grassroots communities on a global stage. Yet, the heart of our work remains rooted in India—its villages, towns, rivers, and forests. Our model of development respects indigenous wisdom, encourages local participation, and brings scientific expertise to grassroots action.

As we look to the future, Drishti Foundation Trust invites individuals, corporate partners, institutions, and changemakers to join hands with us. You can participate in plantation drives, sponsor water conservation projects, organize cleanliness campaigns, or host awareness sessions in schools and offices. Our success depends on collaboration, and every supporter becomes a part of a growing ecosystem of sustainability.

For over a decade, Drishti Foundation Trust has been at the forefront of sustainable development, environmental restoration, and social upliftment across India. As a globally recognized non-profit philanthropic organization, Drishti Foundation Trust has earned Special Consultative Status from the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations since 2017 and holds accreditation from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Our journey has been driven by a clear vision—to create lasting impact on both people and the planet, through dedicated action in areas such as health, education, river and ocean cleaning, water conservation, biodiversity protection, and tree plantation.

In conclusion, Drishti Foundation Trust is more than an NGO—it is a movement. A movement to protect our rivers, forests, oceans, and wildlife. A movement to educate every child, empower every community, and build cities that are green and resilient. A movement that believes the only way to secure the future is to act decisively today. We are not just planting trees; we are planting hope. We are not just cleaning water bodies; we are rejuvenating life. We are not just teaching children; we are shaping leaders of tomorrow.

We urge you to be part of this green revolution. Let’s work together to build a world where nature and humanity thrive in harmony.
